Lenovo Y570 Drivers Windows 7
Quick links. T60p - Windows 10 or Windows 7? Will W10 build on it? Or must I use W7? Any other advice, like where to get drivers? T60p CTO, 2. Re: T60p - Windows 10 or Windows 7? Some are more difficult than others to get going. You can use various Linux flavours as well. All depends on what you want to do with the system. In any case, it will be old and slow. Will the W10 install find drivers for the ATI graphics card and other hardware? To me, that will limit you to an OS that won't take a lot of memory.
To me the major problem is to find drivers that work with Win10 for that old machine. I an running Win7 on my T61 for that reason, lack of Win10 drivers.
I think the Win10 install will install generic drivers. Then the update might look for more specific drivers. I have had problems on my wife's old computer where it installed a generic video driver with a lower resolution screen driver than the hardware will support. Luckily an update installed a driver with more resolution. Last edited by ac12 on Tue Dec 18, pm, edited 1 time in total. Drivers were found, and it isn't as slow as you would think; Chrome browser running Speedometer 2.
A decade or so ago my company had a couple of T60ps in use, with docking stations. They were used for AutoCAD work and office type tasks. After years of use, I replaced both of their HSF assemblies to stop the fan noise. A year or two after that, they were retired.
They sat under my desk. This weekend I had occasion to dust one off to give to a kid whose requirements are pretty simple: Chrome browser school requirementlight word processing and the like, maybe play a CD or DVD. FWIW, the T60p fit these requirements when configured thus: 1.
The system will only see 3gb due to the GM chipset being dumb. This all worked great. Boots in 25 seconds or so. Screen looks nice. Chrome runs pretty well. YouTube even full-screen is watchable. Let it sit until it puts the screen to sleep. Try to wake it up.
Nope, all I get is a cursor and a black screen. Poke all of the Fn-keys that look suspicious.I have a lenovo t60 core2duo 1. Your system should run either 32 or 64bit windows seven, but I'd recommend upgrading your ram to 3GB, which is the most your system will support.

The solution is to download and install the Lenovo Vista version 8. This package installs the software display driver to enable the following video chips on the system board. My Installation instructions it may be prudent to read the ReadMe. Download the version 8. Click Save as, and save it to a new folder; e. I recommend writing down the path during this operation as your path may differ from the path that follows.
Right click it to open Catalyst Control Center. The displayed default settings work fine on my T The downside: after rebooting or restarting my T60, a warning about Catalyst Control Center being unsupported appears. Clicking OK hides the warning until the next restart.
I assume this is an artifact of using a Vista driver. I tried updating the driver. Leave well enough alone! Click the Driver tab. Verify that the device is enabled. The driver can also be updated from here.
During installation, the screen started to distort with lots of artefacts. Eventually the laptop rebooted by itself but nothing would show.
Eventually the laptop said that it needed to do a repair.

However attaching another monitor to the VGA port does work and the laptop functions fine but now it needs an external display. But the Vista driver doesn't seem to be working and its just using the generic Microsoft display adapter driver which means that it can't operate in native resolution for the display and so its a little blurry.
System works fine again after a system restore, after which an external display is no longer required and the laptop display functionality is restored, albeit with only the MS generic display adapter driver. I went to device manager and I see that the adapter is now installed with a yellow triangle with a "!

It's not the conspiracy theory that you think. The fact is that only a tiny percentage of customers are aware that this feature existed in Win7 Power Manager, and an even smaller number of them actually use it. Meanwhile, recent battery technology and firmware advances make the usefulness of this feature less than ever before.
But we are aware that customers are requesting the capability to set custom charge thresholds so it's a matter of prioritizing it with everything else the software team is already working on. Thank you, someotherguy, answering my provocative post. In general, I'm also doubtful about conspiracy theories. I can imagine that only the minority of Lenovo hardware users is aware of the fact that there exists any power management tool at all.
I expressed my posting in that way because my first notebook was a cheap product brand "Gericom", unknown outside of Europe; and yes, you get what you pay for and caused a lot of troubles. The first part that deteriorated was the battery, followed by the keyboard. So I came to Lenovo and was fascinated by the power management tool. A kind of panic arose within myself learning that a part of the ThinkVantage tools would be canceled with Win 8. So I was drawing all my "hope" towards the Lenovo settings app.
Your answer modified my point of view Regards, Erich. But there is one thing to discuss why the setting of charging thresholds could be essential and I don't want to let it unmentioned: the case of long term storage of batteries e. On the other hand there is the effect of "undercharging" the battery undergoes a self-discharge and as far as I know this is a real battery-killer.
What do you think about this argument? Zurich, Switzerland. I did "hack" this feature via registry settings on my Windows 8 machine, but the statement about this feature not being that useful anymore got me thinking:. While we have Windows 7 in the office, the Power Manager is not installed.
So the battery settings are on their default. We use these Laptops mainly docked, year in and year out.Page of 16 Go. Page 9 Page 10 - Adding a new task to the whisper mode su Away Manager 1. I will try to install the IBM utilites from system update to see how that works. Sideband Samurai. I have found the CoreDuo in my T60 to be plenty fast for all my uses and as such haven't bothered going to bit. That and if I do some of my older games won't work anymore.
Sad really, I play those games a lot. Still install off of floppies sometimes too. That being said, Windows 7 flies on my T60 and I am using it right now! That is true, however all T60's are not capable of it. You need a rev. That can be verified through CPU-Z.
That has to be done with care for the proper heat sinking. I now am installing Windows 7 on a separate HD in the Ultrabay but keeping my Vista 64 for real work. I can't seem to put my computer to sleep and I can't add an extra screen on the vga output for a tv. Am I reading above that it isn't even posible to actually run win 7 64 bit on my t60 and maybe it's the reason why my computer actually got slower though I installed new and more ram.
